A few things worth knowing before you need them
- A burn wants twenty minutes of cool running water before anything else — burn treatment.
- An exhaust burn is nearly always deeper than it looks and should not be left to a plaster — exhaust pipe burns.
- A dog or monkey bite starts a clock. Rabies shots work, but only if started — rabies vaccination.
- With a fever in this region, take paracetamol only until dengue is excluded — dengue fever.
- An ear that hurt on descent ends the diving until it has been looked at — ear barotrauma.
- Any open wound stays out of the sea and out of the pool while it is healing.
- If you need a certificate for a flight, come the day before rather than the morning of — fit-to-fly certificates.
