Walk-In Clinic in Pattaya
You do not need an appointment, a referral, a Thai address or an insurance card to be seen here. A walk-in clinic in Pattaya is for the things that are too urgent to leave and too small for a hospital — and it is open at the hours those things actually happen.
What the visit looks like
You arrive, you give your name and roughly what has happened, and you see a doctor. On an ordinary day that is a few minutes. On a Saturday at two in the morning it can be longer, because somebody with a serious injury goes first — which is the arrangement you would want if it were you.
The consultation is in English. If you would rather be seen by a man or a woman, say so at reception; it is a normal request and nobody will ask why.
You are told what is wrong, what the options are, and what each costs, before anything is done. Then you decide. Nothing gets added to the bill that you have not agreed to.
What we can do on site
Enough that most visits finish here rather than becoming a referral:
- Examination, diagnosis and prescription
- Blood tests run and read the same visit
- Stitches, wound cleaning and dressings
- IV fluids, anti-sickness and pain relief given directly
- Burn assessment and dressing
- Vaccinations, including rabies after a bite
- Certificates and insurance paperwork
What we do not do is pretend. If something needs an X-ray, a scan, a surgeon or an overnight bed, we say so and arrange it rather than treating it here badly.
The hours are the point
Hospital outpatient departments keep office hours. Pharmacies shut. Most of what goes wrong on a trip does not respect either.
Things arrive here late: a scooter graze at one in the morning, a fever that will not come down at four, a stomach that has been emptying itself since midnight, somebody whose friend has stopped making sense. None of that has to wait for daylight, and none of it needs an apology.
Being open at those hours is not a marketing line, it is the whole service. A doctor is in the building at three in the morning whether anybody comes in or not.
When you should go straight to a hospital instead
Call 1669 and go directly, rather than coming here first, for:
- Chest pain, or breathlessness at rest
- Stroke signs — face drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech
- A head injury with vomiting, confusion or drowsiness
- Bleeding that will not stop with firm pressure
- A seizure, or anybody who cannot be woken
- A serious road accident, especially at speed or without a helmet
Pattaya has full emergency departments a short drive away, and for these that is the right destination. Coming here first costs minutes that matter. If you are unsure which category you are in, ring us and describe it — that is a thirty-second conversation and it is free.
Costs, and why you hear them first
Private medicine in Thailand is generally good and generally cheaper than at home, but the range between providers is wide, and travellers are used to being surprised by the bill.
So the price comes before the treatment. A consultation, a dressing, a drip, a test — each has a number, and you hear it while you can still say no.
Payment is at the end, cash or card. You leave with an itemised receipt and an English medical report. Those two documents are what almost every travel insurer asks for, and they are far easier to get now than from another country next month — see travel insurance claims.
What to bring, and what not to worry about
Bring your passport if it is to hand, any medication you already take, and your insurance details. If you take something regularly, a photo of the box is as good as the box.
What you do not need: a Thai address, a work permit, an appointment, a referral letter, or a companion who speaks Thai. Arriving with none of that is the ordinary case here, not the awkward one.
If you are bringing a child, we want their rough weight — almost every paediatric dose depends on it, and a guess from a parent is better than a guess from us.
If you cannot get here
Sometimes the problem is the getting here. Vomiting every ten minutes, a leg that will not take weight, a small child at three in the morning, or a hotel a long way up towards Naklua in traffic.
A doctor can come to you instead — see doctor hotel visits. Central Pattaya, Pratumnak, Jomtien and Naklua are all covered, usually within about an hour depending on the roads.
Give us the building name, the road or soi and the room number when you call, and have somebody meet the doctor at reception if it is a large condo. Unmarked sois and towers with several entrances are the commonest reason an arrival takes longer than it should.
Who actually comes in
Short-trip visitors who have three days left and cannot spend one in a waiting room. Long-stay and retired residents who want something looked at without booking a hospital appointment. People working the bars and the gyms. Divers heading out to Koh Larn. Families up at Wong Amat.
The common thread is not the complaint, it is the wish to understand what is wrong and what it costs before agreeing to anything. That is reasonable, and the clinic is arranged around it.
If you have been to another clinic or hospital already and are not satisfied, bring whatever paperwork you were given. A second opinion is a normal thing to ask for and we are not offended by it.
